Murder rates around the world vary from continents to continents and from countries to countries. Did you know, when it comes to analyzing murder rates in the Americas, South American countries such as Honduras, Brazil, and Venezuela top the charts? Honduras has seen a rapid increase in murder rates since the Honduran coup d’etat of 2009, with over 6,239 death recorded in 2010 alone. In 2012 there were 7,172 cases of homicides more than the previous years. Between 2011 and 2015, the murder rate declined by 30%. Bordering Honduras is the Caribbean sea wherein lies two particular nations have had their fair share of murders Jamaica and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Jamaican cities such as Kingston, Montego Bay, Spanish town have witnessed the bulk of deaths occurring in the Country. There were 1,680 murder cases reported in 2009, after which the numbers saw a steady decline, with 2017 being the only year where murder cases climbed above 1600.

Europe

Between 2001-2017, India witnessed 163,740 cases that were related to homicides. The top three motives due to which someone would murder another person were Personal Vendetta, Dispute related to property, Love affairs. Homicides in which love affairs were the primary motive decreased slightly from 1,493 in 2016 to 1,390 in 2017.

West vs. East

Comparing western countries with eastern countries on murder counts generates variable Results. On the top of the list, we have Russia with 9.2% share succeeding Russia are the states of USA, U.K., Australia, China, and Japan with Homicide Rates of 5.3%, 1.2%, 0.8%, 0.6%, 0.2% respectively.
